BIO: A native of Sun Valley, Idaho, James Cordes spent 15 years in the education world as an English and history teacher, along with being a head baseball coach. In 2019, James and Steve connected in Bend, Oregon, and began discussing a new career path for him.
Now established as a seasoned mortgage advisor, James finds joy in being able to educate homebuyers and help them in such an important financial transaction. After working as a Private Mortgage Banker at Wells Fargo, James and Steve made the transition in 2022 to Caliber Home Loans, which switched to its parent company's name, Newrez, in 2023. Since entry into the Independent Mortgage Banking world, James has enjoyed seeing how much smoother and intimate the process can be for his buyers.
In his personal time, James and his wife, Leah, chase around their two young kiddos - Quinn (6) and Addison (3). He is still involved in baseball in Central Oregon as the president of Boss Baseball, loves skiing and snowboarding, jumping on a mountain bike ride, or hiking and camping through the Cascades.
